Refurbishment of Event Technology

At the BAT Studio Theatre, Berlin, the experimental stage of the Ernst Busch School of Acting, a flexibly usable space was created. The planning took place within a very short timeframe due to tight submission deadlines for funding and grants.

The listed building is used by the directing department of the Ernst Busch School of Acting as both an educational facility and a studio theatre. The building ensemble includes the theatre hall with entrance area as well as the side wing. To implement the spatial and program requirements, the theatre hall was completely gutted. The refurbishment of the stage technology included stage machinery, stage steel structures, stage lighting, and audio/video technology.

The building services engineering and fire protection systems of the BAT were brought up to current standards, and numerous rooms were equipped with modern event technology. Access to the theatre hall and ancillary rooms was redesigned to be barrier-free.

The handover was completed on schedule and within budget.
