New Theatre Construction
The city of Rostock is realizing its long-cherished vision of a new theatre, to be located prominently near the Warnow River. We support the concept of the Berlin-based architectural office Hascher and Jehle through our stage machinery planning. Stage technology is being installed in multiple performance and rehearsal spaces. The planned stage machinery allows the new theatre to meet diverse operational requirements efficiently and flexibly.
Client: City of Rostock
Architects: HASCHER JEHLE Architektur
Execution: ARGE ATI–VTR

Stage Technology Planning in Virtual Reality
Theater is a space for play—not only on stage, but also behind the scenes. Integrating Virtual Reality (VR) into the planning of stage technology for theaters and event venues offers the major advantage of experiencing the space spatially before construction.
Spatial perception is crucial for actors and audiences, but also—for example—for lighting technicians who need to move along narrow galleries while maintaining clear sightlines to the stage, or when large stage sets must be quickly shifted past each other behind a closed curtain.
Custom VR Application
Using a specially developed VR application, we were able to explore Theater Rostock before construction. Users can walk through, fly over, or teleport within the venue. Individual elements of the stage technology can be moved, or hidden and displayed for better visualization. Working with this technology benefits both our planning process and our clients.
